Multiple Charges Laid Following Shoplifting Incident

Chatham-Kent Police uncovered a tangled web while investigating a theft in Chatham last night.

Officers responded to a business on St Clair Street and found a woman passing off stolen items to a man.

Investigators say it appears the man was already under court orders not to have any dealings with the woman.

Police say the pair were also found with various other items stolen from another St Clair Street business. 

Both were arrested.

The 42-year-old woman is now facing several charges, including two counts of theft and possession of stolen property, as well as charges for breaking previous probation orders.

The man, a 37-year-old. Was charged with two counts of failure to comply with his undertaking and possession of stolen property. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
