Municipal officials are taking a look at the number of staffers working from home.
A review will focus on people that are currently working from home, positions that could be done remotely, and potential work from home opportunities in the future.
A report will also include recommendations to both sustain an appropriate level of working remotely through the pandemic, and to implement a long term policy/program for working remotely when the pandemic is over.
South Kent Councillor Trevor Thompson raised the motion at Monday night’s meeting, and says while it won’t work for every role and position, there are a lot of people who could work from home and potentially make room at some overcapacity municipal buildings such as the Civic Centre in Chatham.
