Every year, public sector organizations are required to publish all employees who earn $100,000 a year or more.
This year’s list from the Civic Centre includes 250 names. Half of them are Police Services members and another 62 work for Fire and Emergency Services.
Also on the list are the municipality’s upper management positions, like Medical Officer of Health Dr David Colby, who made just over $200,000 last year, and the Chief Administrative Officer who topped the list at $241,000.
However, municipal officials say the annual list doesn’t really tell the full story.
“It should be noted that the Consumer Price Index has not been applied to the reporting process since its inception in 1996, which would otherwise have put the reporting level at $152,154 in 2018,” says Cathy Hoffman, General Manager, and Corporate Services/Chief HR officer. “At this level, Chatham-Kent would have 15 names on the list.”
Last year’s Sunshine List included 228 municipal staff.
