Music Legend Ralph Murphy Passes Away

A Wallaceburg music legend has passed away.

Songwriter Ralph Murphy had been battling cancer, having recently finished a round of radiation treatment, when he came down with a bout of pneumonia.

A member of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, he spent his career working in both Canada and the US, and literally wrote the book on how to write a hit song, called “Murphy’s Laws of Songwriting.”

A special tribute show was held at the Jeanne Gordon Theatre in his honour just a few weeks ago with more than 100 people in attendance.

Born in England, Murphy moved to Canada with his family when he was six.

He passed away in Nashville Tuesday at the age of 77.
