As Chatham-Kent Council members mull over the future of the proposed Chatham-Kent Community Hub project, a local business man is sweetening the pot.
Rob Myers has announced the establishment of the Myers Family Foundation with an initial investment of $5-million, the interest proceeds being pledged to the Chatham-Kent Public Library and the Chatham-Kent Museum, should they be moved to the proposed hub in downtown Chatham.
Myers says the new library and museum will serve as pillars of cultural, educational, and community development.
A recently released report on the Hub project estimates the total cost of the Hub project at just under $53-million, fully funded through existing municipal infrastructure reserves with no impact on property taxes.
The Hub report will come before council May 12th to determine the municipality’s next steps.
