NDP Leader Focusing on Hydro Prices

Jobs, hydro, and health care are issues the Ontario NDP are focusing on before the June 2018 election.

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath stopped by the XS studios yesterday, and said public services like Hydro One shouldn’t be privatized.

“Public services are public services, public health should be public, it shouldn’t be privatized,” Horwath says. “We don’t believe that we should have privatization in our health care system, the Conservatives are ok with that. We don’t believe there should be privatization of our electricity system.”

The NDP released a plan on Monday to cut down on rising hydro bills, which involves buying back Hydro One, and equalizing rural and urban delivery charges.

“We believe that there need to be good jobs for people,” she explains. “We believe our electricity system should be run for the  purposes of creating opportunity for people in Ontario and not have private profits built into it.”

Horwath continues her tour of southwestern Ontario today with a stop in Chatham.
