Chatham-Kent councillor Aaron Hall says the recent discovery of more than 500 used needles at a spot in Wallaceburg highlights an issue than many people simply aren’t aware of. 
Hall says the site at railroad tracks near Dufferin Avenue and Arnold Street are a dumping ground for needles.
“I don’t know exactly what the long term solution is, I know there’s been talk about possibly increasing the number of sharps containers in different spots in the community,” Hall says.
“I think that could be something that could be looked at further as a possible solution or at least a deterrent to try to stop anyone that’s using these needles and dumping them.”
The needles were quickly cleaned up by public health staff.

“Together, as a community, we can tackle this issue,” Hall says.
