New Clinics Opening at SDH

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is taking a step forward in the rejuvenation and investment at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Sydenham Campus with the creation of a handful of new patient clinics.

From left to right: Dr. Pervez Faruqi, Chief of Staff, Lori Marshall, President and CEO, Dr. Javaria Sohaib, Respirologist, Dr. Mahmud Rajabalee, Chief and Program Medical Director of Medicine, Dr. Atoe, Family and ER Physician and Dr. Abu Ismail, Paediatrician, celebrate the addition of physician-led specialist clinics at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s (CKHA) Sydenham Campus with a ribbon-cutting on October 18, 2017.

The ribbon was cut this week on two Internal Medicine, Respiratory, Neurological and Paediatric Clinics.

Dr. Javariea Sohaib says being in Wallaceburg makes sense for her talents.

“Unfortunately, this area has a lot of COPD and airway diseases like asthma because of the environment,” Sohaib says. “I think this will provide additional support and patients will feel they are actually incorporated and included in the Chatham-Kent facility.”

According to CEO Lori Marshall, gone are the days of “Chatham” doctors and “Wallaceburg” doctors.  Now it’s about Chatham-Kent doctors.

“The expansion of specialist clinics will ensure the delivery of high quality care closer to home for patients in the Wallaceburg, Walpole Island and South Lambton catchment area,” Marshall says. “Coupled with our earlier reinvestment in respiratory services in the Sydenham Emergency Department, (Wednesday’s announcement) reaffirms our commitment to program and service delivery at our Wallaceburg site.”
