New COVID Reporting: Average 31 New Cases A Day

Checking in on Chatham-Kent’s COVID situation today, there are 18 COVID-19 patients at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, 12 of whom are being treated primarily for the virus.

Five COVID patients are in the ICU and another four in the hospital’s progressive care unit.

Public health is reporting a seven-day average of 31 new cases a day.

Five outbreaks remain active, two in group homes and three affecting long term care facilities in Chatham, Wallaceburg, and Ridgetown.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit has changed how it reports local COVID data, shifting its focus form daily case counts to trends, hospitalizations, outbreaks, and fatal outcomes. Daily reports will also no longer be issued, instead reporting will only be made public only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
