St. Clair College and the University of Windsor are expanding opportunities for graduating occupational therapy and physiotherapy students.
Through a new formal articulation agreement between the two organizations, eligible graduates of St. Clair College’s Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) diploma program can now receive transfer credit toward the completion of an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health Studies at the University of Windsor.
“It opens doors for our OTA/PTA graduates to continue their education, deepen their expertise, and expand their career pathways in the health sciences,” said Dr. Stephanie De Franceschi, chair of the School of Health Sciences at St. Clair College, in a news release.
The new academic pathway is expected to create a seamless transition from an applied health care practice to the advanced study of human movement, health, and rehabilitation sciences.
“Our graduates are exceptionally well prepared through hands-on, client-centred training,” said Dr. John Spirou, OTA/PTA program coordinator. “This pathway acknowledges their learning and provides a clear, achievable route to a university degree.”
Educators said the partnership between St. Clair College and the University of Windsor provides a stepping stone toward a university degree and expanded opportunities in the health and rehabilitation sector.
