Expected to open in the fall of 2020, the new school on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham will be known as St. Angela Merici Catholic School.
The name is a nod to Sister Angela, founder of an organization in Italy that became the Ursuline Sisters.
St Clair Catholic District School Board Chair John van Heck says it’s a fitting choice, honouring the Sisters who first brought Catholic education to Chatham in 1860.
The new school will house English language students from St. Vincent, St. Agnes, and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic schools.
A team mascot and colours will be discussed in the fall.
