No Criminal Charges After July 2017 Incident

No criminal charges are being laid after a Chatham-Kent man died back in July 2017.

Officials with the Special Investigations Unit say that more than a year ago, Chatham-Kent Police were called by a woman who said her 52-year-old common law partner was using a firearm in their home.

Officers went to the home and tried to engage with the man, but there was no response.

They went into the home and found the man deceased. The immediate cause of death was allegedly determined to be a gunshot wound to the head.

Tony Loparco, Director of the Special Investigations Unit, says there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against at Chatham-Kent Police Officer in relation to the man’s death.
