The key word here is planned.
Deb Crawford is the Director of Education for the St. Clair District Catholic School Board.
She says they encourage everyone to take things home with them at the break just to be on the safe side.
“ What we would want our staff to do at all times is be prepared if there is a change as we are in a pandemic, we want to be ever ready to switch to virtual learning if that happens. But there would be no formal communication of an extended break.”
John Howitt, the Director for the Lambton-Kent district School Board concurs.
“ At March break we all expected a 2 week school closure, and so many personal belongings were left in school that students needed. Things like shoes, eye glasses and medications.”
He says they are just having discussions now to decide if they should warn students and staff to take things home just to be prepared but again, nothing has been passed on to the board.
