No More Fines For Overdue Children’s Books

A long standing tradition is being done away with by the Chatham-Kent public library system.

Chatham-Kent Public Libraries will no longer charge fines for over due children’s materials.

That includes books, magazines, DVD’s, books on CD, and story kits.

They are hoping this will show a commitment to children’s literacy by removing the financial barriers, and increasing equitable access to literacy throughout the community.

They are asking that you still try to return  items on time as others are waiting to use them.

The replacement fee will still be charged for all lost items.

This measure is now in effect at all branches in the municipality.
