Although casinos have been granted permission to re-open with restrictions (including no gaming tables), Chatham’s new Cascades Casino has no set timeline in place to open their doors.
Rob Mitchell, the Director of Communications & Public Affairs for Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited confirmed with 99.1 that the casino will not be back to business on Friday. At the moment, Gateway has no set timeline for re-opening any of their locations.
The restrictions in place make it a tricky transition for the popular gaming centre.
Mitchell says Cascades and Gateway have developed some extensive protocols.
“We have developed extensive health and safety plans for each site, which includes two metres physical distancing, rigorous cleaning and sanitation measures and the mandatory use of masks or face coverings for all individuals entering our gaming sites,” says Mitchell. “Any plans for re-opening must be independently reviewed by a health and safety subject matter expert and submitted to the regulator, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).”
The new casino originally opened their doors on July 16th of last year with an official grand opening on August 8th.
Cascades Casino has been generating an approximate $400,000 per quarter for Chatham-Kent in it’s early stages of operation.
