Chatham-Kent is looking to recognize members of the local community who contribute to the independence of those living with disabilities.

Nominations are now open for the annual Accessibility Advisory Committee Awards, which will be presented during the June 9 meeting of Chatham-Kent Council.

Councillor Alysson Storey, who is a member of the Accessibility Advisory Committee, said ensuring local services are accessible is crucial for an inclusive and welcoming community.

“Whether it’s a retail store, non-profit organization, or government building, we want all of our citizens to be able to access what they need,” she said. “These awards are a great way of honouring and recognizing those who are doing just that.”

Sheila Lindsey Powers Accessibility Advocate Award
