North Kent Wind Speaks Out

Officials from North Kent Wind are speaking out following the cancelled environmental review hearing earlier this month. turbines

Kevin Jakubec from the group Water Wells First filed an appeal against the North Kent Wind 1 project, believing that vibrations from construction of turbines was causing negative effects on groundwater, however the appeal was withdrawn before the hearing began.

In a statement released early this morning, the company now says it agreed to clarify certain conditions relating to Jakubec’s concerns, and was able to meet and work with the appellant to “resolve e the matter to the satisfaction of all parties.”

One sticking point had been a contingency for the company to provide bottled water should nearby wells be affected, which Jakubec said didn’t go far enough, considering the agricultural nature of properties surrounding the project area.

North Kent Wind now says if any problems arise during construction, they will provide an adequate amount of water – in tanks if necessary.
