Another afternoon and evening of wicked storms across southwestern Ontario, complete with a tornado warning.
Thursday’s storm brought high winds, heavy rain, and in some areas, hail, causing damage in many communities.
Hydro One crews are working on a number of power outages in the region, affecting several dozen customers in Chatham-Kent and more than 2300 in Essex County. The utility hopes to have Chatham-Kent customers’ power restored by noon, although some of the Essex County outages may not be fixed until later Friday afternoon at the earliest.
Entegrus crews are also working to restore power to over 200 customers in Wheatley. The estimated restoration time in that area is set for 5 o’clock Friday afternoon.
Meantime, officials with the Northern Tornadoes Project, based out of Western University in London, say damage being reported in east Windsor is likely due to a tornado, and a survey team will visit the area today to confirm. Crews will be looking into storm damage in parts of Essex County and Chatham-Kent as well.
