A Chatham-Kent man is facing additional charges after he was allegedly caught carrying bank cards that were not in his name.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers initially arrested a 32-year-old man on October 31 on multiple undisclosed criminal charges, and he was later released from custody with several conditions.
However, shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were called to a gas bar on Park Avenue East in Chatham regarding an unwanted person. Authorities alleged that the man was attempting to use a gas card, but he was unable to provide the necessary PIN for the transaction.
During a search, police also allegedly found a debit card that was not issued in the man’s name, which violated the terms of his release.
As a result, the Chatham-Kent man is now charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
