Off-Duty CK Cop Charged With Drunk Driving

A 16-year veteran of the Chatham-Kent Police Service is facing an impaired driving charge following a collision in Chatham.

The police service said officers responded to the single-vehicle crash on Howard Road near Indian Creek Road at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers learned that the driver, who had left the scene, was an off-duty officer.

Constable Bryan Vaughan was located at his residence and arrested. The 51-year-old is now charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and failing to report a collision.

Vaughan has been released from custody pending a court date on January 21. He has also been re-assigned to administrative duties.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said it will not provide additional information or comments while the incident is before the courts.
