An off-duty police officer has helped to take an alleged impaired driver off the road in Blenheim.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the off-duty officer spotted a swerving vehicle on Tuesday shortly before 5 p.m. on Nichols Drive. The officer followed the vehicle and called it into the local detachment before conducting a traffic stop on Talbot Trail.
Uniform officers attended the scene and took the driver into custody to conduct further tests at police headquarters.
As a result, a 58-year-old Leamington man has been charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a June court date.
