Allegedly threatening police with a weapon has landed a local man behind bars.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a family dispute at around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and, following an investigation, formed grounds to charge a man with mischief under $5,000.
Authorities later located the man who allegedly raised a large object in a threatening manner when the officers attempted to take him into custody. He also allegedly failed to comply with repeated demands and attempted to evade officers.
When the officers were forced to draw their Tasers and point them at the man, he began to comply and was taken into custody without further incident.
The 37-year-old Chatham-Kent man is now charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and resisting a peace officer. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
