Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

One of the most beautiful parts of Christmas is the tree, unfortunately it can also be one of the most dangerous.

Whitney Burke is the Public Educator with Chatham Fire and says “ you have a large combustible tree in the middle of your living room. So what we recommend if you have a live tree is that you keep it watered, and we recommend you water it daily.

We also want to make sure that any Christmas lights are not frayed or damaged so check the wires, and if you can’t reach the wall plug use a power bar.”

Burke says it is also important to make sure you are using indoor lights on the tree as outdoor lights burn very hot.

And never go away and leave your tree lights turned on for any reason.
