An Ontario Land Tribunal hearing set to take place this week for a Chatham property has been put on hold.

The two-day hearing in regards to 9 Sarah Crescent was originally set to begin August 17th after members of Chatham-Kent Council opposed plans to add 10 new units to the 12-unit apartment complex.

However, the appellant recently submitted a large amount of late evidence past the deadline, and officials with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent requested a delay to provide time to review the new information and prepare an appropriate response.

The OLT granted the hearing postponement, although at this point a new date has yet to be set.

Local officials say they will continue to defend the Committee of Adjustment’s decision to refuse a minor variance application, based on planning principles and evidence.
