One Assaulted, Three Threatened In Blenheim

A Harwich Township senior is facing charges after allegedly hitting someone with a piece of wood and threatening others.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a Blenheim home on Wednesday shortly after 4 p.m. regarding a disturbance.

When police arrived, it was learned that a man had damaged a window with a shovel before chasing three individuals while uttering threats to harm them.

The man also struck a 39-year-old victim with a piece of wood, causing a minor injury that did not require medical attention.

A 73-year-old Harwich Township man was located and arrested a short distance from the residence. He is now charged with assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, and three counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
