Ontario Expands Drug Store COVID Vaccination Program

The province is expanding its vaccination program in drug stores across Ontario.

As many as 700 stores will be able to offer the shots starting on Monday. The program first launched in just three jurisdictions, including Windsor-Essex, a week ago.

The government says the number of drug stores doling out the AstraZeneca vaccine could reach 1500 by the end of April.

Details on additional locations and the application process for pharmacy participation will be shared in the next day or two.

Officials are hoping to add the Moderna vaccine to the program in the coming weeks.

Meantime the province is catching up to Chatham-Kent’s vaccination efforts, adding those 75 and older to the list.

Local residents are still encouraged to book through the local call centre at 519-351-1010 rather than the provincial portal.
