Ontario Government Waiving OHIP Waiting Period, Covering Uninsured Who Don’t Meet Criteria

The provincial government is waiving the three-month waiting period for OHIP coverage in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a media release on Friday afternoon, the province said they will also cover the cost of COVID-19 services for uninsured residents who do NOT meet the criteria for OHIP coverage.

The province believes these measures will help ensure no one is discouraged from seeking screening or treatment for financial reasons.

The province has also announced that Ontario residents with expiring or expired health cards will continue to have access to insured health services.
