Ontario Health Coalition Getting Election Ready

The Ontario Health Coalition spent some time locally this week, discussing health care concerns within the Erie St. Clair LHIN.

The organization met in Sarnia yesterday.  Executive Director Natalie Mehra it has to be an election issue.

“People can actually help with this, as candidates come around to your door, ask them will you commit to reopening closed beds and closed doors and restoring capacity, building the long term care beds that we need faster,” Mehra says. “The discussion needs to be about restoring services, not about more cuts.”

Mehra says she heard stories of people waiting up to two weeks in a bed in a hallway before they got into a room.

Meantime, the local branches of the Health Coalition are holding candidate debates in both Chatham and Wallaceburg this week to ensure health care stays at the forefront of the campaign.
