Premier Doug Ford and his Conservative government are kicking off the new session of the Ontario Legislature today.
The main focus of this rare summer sitting will primarily deal with Ford’s plan to repeal the cap and trade law.
However, the only item on the agenda today is the election of the new Speaker, Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Rick Nicholls was one of four MPPs in the running.
Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott was chosen as the new Speaker earlier today.
