Operation BackPacks is Getting Ready for September

SchoolSupplies

While students across Chatham-Kent celebrate the end of the school year, the United Way is already looking ahead to September.

Operation BackPacks aims to provide less fortunate students will all the supplies they need to head to class.

Coordinator Mary Symons says they are collecting donations of basic school supplies. She lists the following as types of school supplies that will be going in the backpacks.

“Pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, calculators, pencil sharpeners, markers, pencil crayons, 1″ and 1 1/2″ binders, lined paper, graph paper, dividers, and the backpacks themselves.”

The backpacks will be handed out at the end of August.

Parents looking for support for their child can log on to the United Way’s website at www.uwock.ca.
