OPP Identify Victim of Highway 40 Hit and Run

Provincial Police have now released the name of a man whose body was found on Highway 40 just north of Chatham two months ago.

OPP responded to a hit and run the morning of September 19th. The victim has now been identified as 41-year-old Matthew Hewer of Chatham.

Elgin County OPP continues to investigate the events leading up to the discovery of Hewer’s body between Pine Line and Eberts Line. Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen a northbound white hatchback passenger vehicle or an individual walking in the area that day between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
