Otter Creek Wind Farm Open House

About 100 people turned out to the Baldoon Golf Course last night to learn more about plans for the proposed Otter Creek Wind Farm, to be built north of Wallaceburg.wind turbines

Project Manager Adam Rosso says the project has a very unique rural-urban mix, but exact locations for the turbines has yet to be determined.

“For the actual sighting of the turbines, that’s what the whole purpose of the Renewable Energy Approval process is,” Rosso says. “As an ethical developer, I’m trying to minimize the impact on the natural environment and to the community.”

Rosso says Chatham-Kent has three ideal ingredients for a wind project: good wind, local government acceptance, and good connections to the provincial power grid.

“We’re in the process now of looking at the parcels of land that we have signed lease agreements for, looking at the natural features, conducting studies to determine where we believe the most appropriate locations for the turbines to be placed.”

If all goes according to plan, Rosso expects construction to begin in May, 2018.
