A program for at-risk youth at Wallaceburg District Secondary School has been given an 11th hour reprieve.
The P.A.C.E. program, short for Partnership, Achievement, Cultural Awareness and Engagement, was scheduled to be shut down tomorrow because of a lack of funding.
However, organizers announced over the weekend that it will be able to run for at least two more months, thanks to a grant from the Ontario Brain Institute.
In the meantime, officials are still looking into the possibility of provincial funding, which could provide sustainable, long-term support.
The P.A.C.E. program, which provides support and counselling for students who might otherwise fall through the cracks, was given three months of bridge funding from the Lambton-Kent District School Board back in the fall.
