A man and a woman from Chatham-Kent are facing several charges after police located a trailer that had been stolen nearly a year ago.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers stopped a vehicle that was towing a trailer on Kimball Road in St. Clair Township at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, after it was learned that the trailer had been stolen in Lakeshore back in October 2023.

As a result, the two Chatham-Kent residents in the vehicle were arrested.

A 48-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman are now both charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of Fentanyl.

The man is additionally charged with using a licence plate not authorized for the vehicle, possessing more than one licence, towing a trailer with no plate, and driving without insurance.

The woman is also charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine.

Both have since been released from custody and will answer the charges in court in November.
