Pair Charged Following Domestic Violence Call

Charges have been laid against both parties involved following complaints of domestic violence.

Chatham-Kent Police say a man was released from custody in early January with conditions not to communicate with or be within 100 metres of the woman involved.

On Monday, officers were called to a Campus Parkway home in Chatham and say the two people were involved in another fight, during which the man allegedly damaged a door and wall, threatened to hurt the woman, and physically assaulted her.

Authorities say the woman initially gave false information to the investigators about where the man had been living, but police later discovered he’d been staying at the home with her, against court orders.

The 33-year-old man was charged with mischief, uttering threats, assault, assault causing bodily harm and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

The 31-year-old woman was charged with facilitating a breach of a release order and obstructing police. She was released with conditions and a future court date.
