Pet and Wildlife Rescue will be taking over the contract from the Ontario SPCA this weekend.
Although some council members were worried about the state of the animal shelter with the new contractor coming in, municipal clerk Judy Smith says those concerns have been laid to rest.
“We have been working for the past couple of weeks with both the OSPCA and the new contractor, PAWR, and we have made some progress with regards to settling what’s staying in the building and what’s going. As of Friday, we will be transferring the service from OSPCA to PAWR and we’re ready to move forward with the new contractor.” – Judy Smith, Municipal Clerk
Smith says Pet and Wildlife Rescue has hired on new staff, including animal control officers, who will be receiving training this week.
