Paying Off Late Fees With Food Donations

Chatham-Kent residents needing to pay off overdue fines at the local library can now do so by supporting those less fortunate in the community.

The Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL) is hosting the “Food for Fines” initiative from October 30 to November 4, which will allow patrons to pay off their late fees with donations of non-perishable food items.

CKPL will waive $5 in overdue fines per donated item, up to a maximum of $50 per account.

Food items will be accepted at every library branch in the municipality and will be donated to local organizations to benefit people in need.

Those without late fees at the library can still donate to support the cause.
