Impaired driving charges have been laid after the driver of a pickup truck fled the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Wallaceburg.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to the crash on William Street shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday to find that a vehicle had failed to remain at the scene after colliding with a hydro pole.

Authorities searched the area and located the vehicle on Duncan Street. The accused was also arrested and taken to police headquarters for breath tests.

As a result, a 28-year-old Dresden man is now charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. His driver’s licence was also seized and his vehicle will also be impounded for 90 days. He will answer the charges in court next month.
