Pigs of Hope

The Canadian Cancer Society is hoping you’ll help fill a piggy bank to support cancer patients. pigs-of-hope

Fundraising assistant Darcy Derbecker says they’re “adopting” out pink and blue pigs to collect donations.

“It supports our Wheels of Hope transportation service,” Derbecker says. “In 2015, the Chatham-Kent office provided 211 cancer patients with 3784 rides going to their appointments. Last year the bill for this program cost us over $92,000.”

Derbecker says the average cost to provide one ride is $50.

The Pigs of Hope banks can be found at a number of businesses around Chatham-Kent – including the CKXS James Street studio.

You can also get a pig for your home by contacting the Cancer Society office in Chatham.

The campaign was originally supposed to wrap up on December 11th, but has been extended until January 6th.
