Pipe Bomb Threat Lands Rodney Man With Charges

A 60 year old Rodney man is facing multiple charges following a pair of disturbances Tuesday evening.

Chatham-Kent police say the man showed up at a Chatham home where a woman and her adult son live. He allegedly threatened the man while holding a knife and a second man was threatened as the suspect left.

Police say he returned two hours later, claiming to have a pipe bomb and threatening to blow up the neighborhood.  The son grabbed the device as the man fled but police determined it was not a threat to public safety.

At 4 o’clock Wednesday morning the man was taken into custody and charged with numerous domestic and weapons charges. He was held pending a bail hearing.
