Three local investors have been negotiating with the company for the 80 acre property on Richmond Street, for a couple of years but it’s done.
The deal finally came together in the last couple of weeks for Rob Myers, Don Tetrault, and Mike Vagi.
Myers says a deal for the property has been discussed with the company for years.
“I was told that no one was capable, or able to buy this in the past, and I know that Don Tetrault and Mike Vagi had many discussions with Navistar over the years, but were never able to get it to the table and finalize a deal.”
They have big plans for their new investment.
Tetrault says he sees no problem getting companies interested in the property.
“There is a large demand for industrial properties, commercial properties, and there is a shortage in Chatham-Kent right now. We don’t see a problem, we’re just looking for the right fit, the right factories to come here, or assembly plants. Basically we will just look for the right properties for the different parcels we can create.”
There must be some environmental assessments done, but the land is fully serviced and nearly shovel ready.
Myers adds the trio have built a great partnership and a great vision for what can happen on this property.
