A Chatham-Kent man listed under the Sex Offender Registry has been arrested for failing to report in at the local police service.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were conducting a property check at the bandshell at Tecumseh Park in Chatham on Thursday shortly after midnight when they located the man.
As a registered sex offender, authorities say the man was required to report annually to police, however, he allegedly failed to do so in October and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Officers also learned he was wanted on several other outstanding warrants and took him into custody.
The 29-year-old accused is now charged with failing to comply with a probation order, failing to comply with a court order, and failing to report under Christopher’s Law. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
