Police Seek Public’s Help In Death Investigation

Police are looking to the public for information after a body was discovered on Highway 40 last month.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers are continuing to investigate what led to the death of an individual whose body was discovered on the highway just north of Chatham on September 19. The sudden death investigation shut down the highway for several hours while officers were at the scene.

Police have been unable to identify the individual and a cause of death has not been released.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen a white hatchback passenger vehicle traveling north on the highway on the day of the incident to contact police. Police are also looking to speak to witnesses who may have seen an individual walking along Highway 40 that day between Pine Line and Eberts Line between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
