Two local men have been arrested after warrants were executed at a home in Wallaceburg.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers with the Emergency Response Team, with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police, attended an address on Wallace Street at around 10:15 a.m. on Monday.

Authorities secured the area, and containment was established as a precaution to ensure public and officer safety. Residents were asked to avoid the area, however, police said there was no risk to the public.

After “continued communication and tactical coordination,” officers executed two warrants and arrested a 41-year-old man and a 35-year-old man, both from Wallaceburg, without incident.

The OPP took custody of the 41-year-old, while the 35-year-old was held by CK police.

The 35-year-old is now charged with drug possession, possession of stolen property, failing to attend court and failing to comply with a release order.

Multiple streets were temporarily closed during the incident, which lasted for several hours. The area was reopened to the public shortly before 5 p.m.
