A lockdown has been lifted at two schools in Dresden following a police investigation.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reported that there was a heavy police presence near Lambton Kent Composite School (LKCS) on St. George Street North on Thursday shortly after 2 p.m. Police said officers responded to an incident that occurred off school property.
The Lambton Kent District School Board said students at LKCS and at nearby Dresden Area Central School were secured inside the buildings as a precautionary measure.
“The police matter is not related to Dresden Area Central School or Lambton Kent Composite School,” the school board said in a statement.
The lockdown was lifted shortly before 4 p.m. and students were dismissed safely from school.
Police said one person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident but no further information has been released at this time.
