A Tilbury woman is facing drunk driving charges after being stopped at a RIDE checkpoint in Chatham.
The Ontario Provincial Police said officers stopped the accused at around 12:31 a.m. on Thursday, while conducting the RIDE checkpoint on the eastbound Highway 401 off-ramp at Bloomfield Road.
Authorities allege the driver failed a roadside screening test and was arrested. She was then taken to police headquarters for further testing.
As a result, a 39-year-old woman from Tilbury is now charged with impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg, driving with an open container of liquor, and driving without a licence. She was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and was released with a court date later this month.
