Police Services Board Makes Donation to CK Victim Services

The Chatham-Kent Police Services Board is making a big donation to a local organization.

Police Chief Gary Conn says the Board is giving $45,000 to Chatham-Kent Victim Services.

“We try to do that on an annual basis. The funding that they receive is just not enough,” says Conn.

Victim Services provides emotional support and practical assistance to victims of crime and tragic circumstances. They receive much of their funding from the Ministry of the Attorney General, but they’ve recently seen an increase in the need for their services.

“This funding augments what they receive from MAG. Their service is critical to our community as a whole. They provide services to victims of crime and that is contained within the Police Services Act as well that we have to provide services to victims of criminal incidences, and the Chatham-Kent Victim Services do a great job of that,” says Conn.
