A Chatham-Kent man has been arrested after police responded to a break-and-enter in progress.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were contacted at around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday after a man was seen inside a fenced compound of a business on Colborne Street in Chatham.
Authorities arrived at the scene and located a man inside the compound, who was carrying a backpack containing electrical wire that had been taken from the property.
As a result, a 47-year-old man was arrested and charged with break-and-enter to commit theft, disguise with intent, and failing to comply with probation. He was later released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
