A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a string of break-and-enters at businesses in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said following an investigation by the police Intelligence Unit, officers determined a connection between seven break-and-enters and one attempted break-and-enter that took place between November 28 and December 19,  where lottery tickets were targeted.

Authorities said they will not be releasing the names of the businesses that were affected by the break-ins, but released that three of the incidents took place on Grand Avenue East, while the other five occurred on  Lacroix Street, St. Clair Street, Keil Drive South, Indian Creek Road, and National Road.

In collaboration with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, investigators were able to identify and arrest a suspect.

As a result, a 34-year-old Chatham-Kent man is now charged with mischief under $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property, and seven counts of break-and-enter. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
