Police officers will be out in force this week to ensure the safety of students as they head back to school.
Starting Tuesday, the Chatham-Kent Police Service will be monitoring traffic along school bus routes to ensure drivers are complying with the rules of the road.
To help create a safe environment for students travelling to and from school, officers will be conducting enforcement and education initiatives as part of the “Give Buses a Break” campaign.
Drivers are reminded that it is illegal to pass a stopped school bus when its lights are flashing and stop arm is extended. Anyone traveling through a school zone or residential neighbourhood is urged to use caution, particularly during morning and afternoon travel times.
